Dates are packed full of minerals including iron, manganese, magnesium, calcium, copper, sulpher and potassium. Because of the high mineral and oil content, they have been considered one of nature's perfect foods.
They are full of fiber and here's something you might not know... they contain a natural aspirin. In fact, they have been traditionally used as a remedy to strengthen a weak heart.
Research has shown dates have been useful in preventing diseases of the respiratory system and preventing abdominal cancer. They also are known to stimulate and strengthen muscles and have been used for children with hyperactivity. The high mineral content may be responsible for these benefits.
