#18 - Honey for Health

Honey has a number of health benefits. And the best part - it is slowly absorbed into the bloodstream so you won't experience an elevated insulin response!

Honey helps metabolize bad cholesterol and fatty acid in the organs and tissues. It is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and has antimicrobial effects.

As for antioxidants, researchers have found that honey has as many antioxidants as spinach, apples and oranges. In fact there have been numerous studies done that have proven that daily doses of unadulterated honey increases antioxidant levels in adults. (Remember that antioxidants protect against cell damage and free radicals.) Another benefit - it was suggested in these studies that the honey had increased the bodies' capacity to absorb calcium!

It is known that the darker honeys contain more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants than the lighter brand. Try to find honey that has no additives, has nothing added and organic if possible.
