Vegetable Juice Detox

Detox Drinks with Vegetable Juice

While fruit juices are naturally cleansing, vegetable juice detox drinks help your body cleanse while providing an abundance of nutrients that are essential for your body.

Fresh made veggie juice has been used by many health conscious people to help their body's heal and to support important bodily functions such as; beet juice for liver support and celery juice for a healthy cardiovascular system.

Incorporating a variety of vegetable juice into your daily regimen can help you prepare for a body cleanse, be a good addition to your detox diet or can help you rebuild health, such as I did when I had Hep C.  The book, Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices by Dr. N.W. Walker  was a great companion when I was on my path to healing.

As when using any detox drinks or supplements, try cycling them.  In other words, when you create a juice that feels great and works wonders, do not use it for more than 3-4 weeks straight.  After a few weeks, switch it up.  Or better yet, cycle your juices on a daily basis.  Either way, you ensure you get a well rounded boost of nutrition while avoiding creating a sensitivity (which may happen if too much of any food or drink is consumed).

If you are new to making vegetable juice detox drinks, try using organic produce when possible.  They lack harmful pesticides and taste much better when juiced.

Vegetable Juice Detox Drinks

Celery Juice Flush

5 sticks of organic celery
1 cucumber
1-2 carrots
Small handful of parsley

Use a juicer to extract the juice and drink right away. This is a good one to use while fasting or leading up to a fast. It also helps with energy as you begin any new health regimen or weight loss program.

Why this works; Celery juice is one of the most powerful types of vegetable juice for a body detox or body cleanse. It has been used for centuries for curing ailments such as constipation, menstrual problems, liver problems, and gallstones. It is a powerful diuretic so helps the body flush away trapped fluids when consumed daily for at least a week along with a healthy diet.

Parsley is extremely high in Vitamin C and a bio-available source of iron and calcium. It is a powerful detoxifier with diuretic abilities and may be extremely helpful for those with kidney stones, menstrual problems, rheumatism, and water retention.

Cucumber skins are high in silica, which is an important component to our skin health as well as healthy connective tissue. This means it supports strong bones, ligaments and tendons as well as healthy skin. Cucumbers contain ascorbic acid and caffeic acid, both of which help prevent water retention. Add this to the potassium and magnesium of the cucumber along with the high amount of natural, healthy vitamin water contained in cucumbers and you have a mix for beautiful, fresh, glowing skin.

Although carrots have their many health benefits, it helps with the flavor of this juice to sweeten as the other veggies may be a little bitter on their own. As for benefits, carrot juice is known as a blood strengthener, may help your body build new strong skin and hair cells and is high in beta-carotene which the body converts to vitamin A. (If you already have enough Vitamin A, your body will simply not convert and eliminate the excess.)

Carrot, beet, cucumber

3 carrots
¼ to ½ peeled beet
1 peeled cucumber
1 green apple

Juice these together and drink right away. This is a good juice to drink one or two times a day if you are preparing to fast since it helps to strengthen your body and support all the organs of elimination. It is also an excellent liver cleanser and builder. It is also highly beneficial to add nutrition and help the body flush when starting any new health regimen.

Why this works;  Carrots are one of the main vegetable juices used for most programs since it is high in many nutrients – some consider it a nutritional gold mine. It helps make the skin sleek and can help the liver remove stored toxins.

Beets are extremely powerful when juiced hence the use of only up to ½ the beet. There are many holistic health practitioners, including doctors and scientists, which have evidenced the many benefits. These include detoxification of the blood and renewing it with minerals, aiding circulation, and helping to stimulate liver cells, protect the liver, and even helps build red blood cells.

Cucumbers are an excellent diuretic and can help clear skin and freshen it. Besides the nutritional benefits mentioned above, they are also beneficial for clearing and flushing the kidneys, as well as helping to reduce internal inflammation.

Skin Cleanser

5 Stalks Celery
1 Cucumber
1 Green Apple
1 Handful Kale
½ inch Ginger Root

Why this works; Celery, cucumber and apples are all very hydrating and help your body utilize fluids in a healthy way. Celery, in particular, helps your cells detox bad stuff and includes a great balance of sodium and potassium that contributes to heart health. Cucumbers are also diuretic well known as a skin refresher. Ginger root kills bacteria as your body is cleansing while kale is a leafy green we all could use more of. Using these together as a juice on a regular basis can really help freshen skin while help your body stay hydrated and energetic.

Celery is a potent ally during a body cleanse and can help refresh your skin and organs. On the other hand, I have heard some claim that is makes blood pressure even lower or even cause skin issues. I have low blood pressure and have never encountered any issues, even though I drink it near daily. On the other hand, as I say with any and all foods – don't overdo it. Everything is best in moderation, and cycling healthy foods works best. (Personally, I use a favorite juice on a near daily basis for 3 to 4 weeks, then take a break or change my mixture.)
