What is Holistic Healing

Holistic healing has been around for centuries and for good reason. There is no doubt that conventional medicine has made tremendous progress in the past few decades. However, it is also true that this type of medicine has still not found suitable treatments for many diseases and health problems. In fact, the number of pharmaceutical drugs is continually increasing but even so, modern people have more and more health issues.

Because of the trend of ever failing health, people are widely questioning our common health care options. More people are making a choice to be proactive and look for ways to prevent health issues as well as help their bodies heal completely. And many people are finding this possible with the help of holistic and alternative remedies.

Natural or holistic healing is as old as humankind and often encompasses body, mind and spirit. Written documents and archaeological evidence show that people have been successfully using these types of options for centuries. Ancient Egyptian and Chinese history is full of records about natural remedies such as healing with herbs, acupuncture, massage and other techniques and many are still used today. These time tested remedies are available to anyone willing to do the work of learning about it.

The advance of medicine has allowed doctors to search for solution on a molecular level, however this progress has suppressed the human wholeness or holism. A holistic approach to human health is a philosophy that takes into account the wholeness not just individual parts.

The human body is the most complex mechanism that consists of parts that operate individually, but they work in a harmonious coexistence. So, if one part of the mechanism doesn’t work like it is supposed to, the entire mechanism will suffer. While modern medicine is focused on healing the individual, not the disease, there is an increasing number of doctors and health care facilities that advocate holism, which is a more comprehensive approach to human health focused on healing the individual not just the organ.

Holistic medicine is a misnomer, as medicine often means the use of pharmaceuticals or surgery. On the other hand, holistic health is based on natural and completely non-invasive therapies and techniques. They may involve herbs, foods, energy work,

Healers who work in this field of health recommend therapies that will support the body's natural process of healing. Which type of therpay depends on the type and severity of the disease. Holistic health is the most common method used by alternative or unconventional practitioners today, mostly because of the broad spectrum of diverse and effective therapies based on natural means which the healer has available and which can be used in the process of reconstruction of health.

Types of Holistic Healing

Holistic healing practices cover a wide range of therapies including; all types of energy or bio-frequency medicine, spiritual healing, healing with prana or pranotherapy, bioenergy and biotherapy, qugong, shamanism, psychokinetic surgery and psycho kinesis, color therapy, chakra balancing, reiki healing, aura healing, light therapy, sound therapy, vibration therapy, ozone therapy, water therapy, ayurveda, herbs and plants and their preparations, creams, tinctures, nutrition, diet, mediation, visualization, self-help, yoga, massage etc. The basic idea behind each of these activities is that only our body can heal itself, we must support it by finding a method to activate the healing process.

In order to experience the benefits of holistic health therapies, it is best to use an experienced holistic therapist or practitioner, at least at first. These therapists help their clients or patients get to know different aspects of their life that enhance or oppose the processes of healing and teach them to accept their own responsibility for the rehabilitation and recovery of health.
